I’m a guy in his late 20s living in a pretty cool town that isn’t New York, LA, or Chicago.

Born in the 1980s, I lived until December 2012 without ever dating a stranger – just people with whom I’d already had significant social contact. Finding myself newly single with no promising friends of friends available and with a social network that had decayed due to a lengthy previous relationship, I joined OkCupid without really knowing how to succeed or who I would find.

This shit can work. But having surveyed some of the “secondary literature” of other people’s blog and forum posts, and having had friends who haven’t kicked ass at internet dating, I know that there’s an audience out there that is eager to learn more about how to meet cool people.

That’s why I started this blog.

(And I’d have to be a real jerk to name names – so all the women I write about have had theirs changed to protect their identities)
